Tulips at Garvan Garden

I love Tulips...in fact they are my very favorite flower! So every year I look forward to visiting Garvan Garden in Hot Springs, AR for their Tulip Extravaganza. The first year was FREEZING, like 30 degrees in late March freezing, but we went...and froze to see tulips which had done the same. Last year I couldn't attend the event becuase I was in Utah (although I did manage to make it to a tulip festival there). This year, it was wet and rainy and I wasn't sure if the tulips would still be in good condition again but I couldn't help but try. Although alot had died off, I was still able to enjoy the beauty of the Gardens.

I was also SUPER excited for the opptortunity to get familiar with my new camera as it is a big learning curve and I haven't had much time to do so. My last Nikon had a manual that was 50 pages long. This manual is a whopping 350 pages! And let's face it, I am getting old and simply can't remember that much information. Not to mention that the functions/buttons between the camera's are a little different (even though they are the same manufacture). I found my self accediently pressing buttons (that I used for certain features on my old camera) and changing settings in my new camera that I couldn't figure out how to change back...eek!

I also played around with some of my macro filters which gave a fun effect to some of the images. All I can say is I love my new camera. The pictures are so much more crisp, alot less noise, and more vibrant.

Dave LOVES smelling flowers. He would probably be upset with me for sharing this little fact on the blog, but I can't help it...I think it is kind of cute! He will stop at a good smelling flower and just sit there and smell it till I am ready to move on. He does it in the garden stores too!

Navarre Beach, FL

White sandy beaches and emerald green waters...it was beautiful and we soaked every last minute of it up!

We got an awesome deal for a 1 bedroom condo right on the bay. We enjoyed views of the beach from our balcony and bay from our kitchen window. It was only a short walk to the beach. The condo even had a private fishing pier that we took full advantage of to catch a dinner or two. We even went crabbing but we were unsuccessful in that department.

We caught 4 speckled trout, 1 mackerel, 2 sea catfish, and 2 other fish that we didn't know what they were. We only kept and cooked up the trout which was absolutely delicious!

We enjoyed lots of time in the water.

Dave experienced his first time snorkeling with his new snorkeling gear.

Dave was in this position for about two hours straight  (now envision what his back might possibly look like today). He combed through the sea bed digging for extra special seashells for me...

We had quite the collection (this isn't even all of them) and I can't wait to figure out the perfect way to display them in our home to remind us of our trip.

We both received terrible sunburns (notice my leg above) despite our efforts to avoid it.

The scenery was all breathtaking and as you might imagine I was going crazy at all the photo opportunities that surrounded me...

We enjoyed seeing all of the creatures that made the beach their home...

I saw my very first Jellyfish (in the wild). The water was crystal clear.

We enjoyed beautiful sunrises coming up over the bay...

And amazing sunsets at night...

Best of all we enjoyed some quality time with one another! It was really our first vacation (aside from our honeymoon) that we weren't going to see family.

It couldn't have been more perfect...
