Drapes

I finally had drapes made for my crazy tall window. It was a long time in coming, but I couldn't be more pleased. They go floor to ceiling...14 feet to be exact, and when closed, they span the full width of the room. I chose a beautiful greenish-blue linen blend to match these pillows. My new drapery adorned formal dining room now just needs a few more things to complete it...

Like this 72" round table...

with several of these around it...

and maybe one of these (to replace existing)...

and a rug, and art work, and wainscot paneling, and a buffet, and a table center piece...gosh, the list never ends. Don't even get me started on my master bedroom (sigh)...

Calling all creativity...

That's right folks....I need your help!

I am considering entering the above image into a Hallmark Greeting Card contest. The task at hand is to come up with a creative birthday wish for the image. I have a few ideas up my sleeve, but I wanted to see what you could come up with. This is a picture of Cooper and Aiden (aka: The Tutton Twins) taken just before their first birthday.

Here are the contest details/rules:
"Create a Birthday greeting card that could be sent to anyone...guy people, girl people, tall people, freckled people. Make it sweet, serious, funny, cute- it's your call. Tell the birthday honoree how great they are or just wish them a good day."
The card will be judged based on the following three criteria:
1. A birthday card for anyone. (not just you mom, uncle, or pet sitter)
2. Sendable (works for lot's of folks)
3. Cohesive (writing and images work together)
My submission has be in by January 25th (I know...short notice). So let the creativity roll...

As a side note: Here are the cute little guys faces....

Pillows

I found this wonderful greenish/blue fabric with a trellis pattern a while back and I fell in love with it. I figured since I was having my major surgery soon, it might be a perfect project to do with my mom while I was down during recovery. I bought several yards with the intention of making throw pillows for my sofa. I have to admit that this was my first big sewing project and I enlisted the help of many to get it done!

A thank you goes out to Andrea for letting me borrow her sewing machine, my mom for letting me talker her into getting them started after my surgery (we cut out the pattern, and made the piping), and Meghan who came over on my lonely days at home (after my mom had left) and gave me a great lesson in sewing!

The picture doesn't do them justice, because you miss the wonderful textural quality of the fabric and the beautiful coloration. But I simply couldn't help post a picture to show them off and to send out a big thank you to all who contributed in the process.
